State of Social Media Summit - Amsterdam

28.10.2010 09:30
29.10.2010 18:00

This two-day summit will investigate the impact of small-scale Internet organisations on society. It will reflect on how such organisations change the old media landscape of commercial and public service media. Participants will discuss - and share experiences on - the resulting challenges in social media for the future; an agenda for meeting these challenges will be presented at the end of the summit.

The event is particularly targeted at social media entrepreneurs and those interested in social innovation.

The Summit will host sessions on:

  • migration & integration - access to new media can be especially empowering to migrants and marginalised groups in society. Social media projects provide these groups with platforms to communicate within their own groups and influence how majority populations perceive these groups. In collaboration with the European Bridge-IT network this session will explore social media (best) practices in the field of migration and integration;
  • open governance;
  • (citizen) journalism;
  • urban computing;
  • project/funding.

The organisers are open for other suggestions and plan to provide space for ad hoc interventions throughout the project. It is possible make a proposal for a topic for one of the sessions or to discuss the programme on the website.

Registration can be performed online.
